TR6 Glove box lock.

Had to replace the glove box lock on my 76 TR6 and door will no longer pop open. There has been some discussion about a finger pull but a 76 never had one (i am original owner). My TR4A had one and early 6s may have but by 76 they were gone. Tried adjusting the catch at the top of the glove box opening without any success. Someone suggested adjusting the spring loaded glove box light switch but it is not really adjustable. I have to put key into the lock cylinder and use it to pull the door open which is not really feasible when the key is on a ring with the ignition and I am driving. Any suggestions?

There should be a metal tab in the upper left hand corner that is attached to the back of the wooden dash board. The tab has a hole in it which will accept a pull-through rubber buffer. That buffer will put enough pressure on the door to pop it open when the latch is released.
