Glove Box Lock - Which key?

Which key does the glove box lock use? My dad had 5 keys on the keyring for the car, however I think only two of them are Healey keys. One is for the ignition and doors while the other working one is for the trunk. Does the glove box use one of those? I tried all 5 keys and none of them would lock it.

Thanks!

On my BJ8 the glove box uses a separate key. If you have a locking gas cap, they use the same type of key. It is not a bad idea to NOT lock the glove box. If someone tries to steel something they will not break the wood to get in. Someone just posted this and I think it is a good idea. Does your car have locking doors?

Yes, my car does have locking doors. However, I never lock them as I always leave the top down when I park the car. The reason I asked about the glove box was because I want to remove the face of the cd player (so I can put the radio blanking plate over it) I just installed and lock it in the glove box. However, I may just lock it in the trunk anyway.

Brandon, I would suggest that all the functions on the car be made operational. In the case of the glove box take the car to a locksmith and have a key made to fit it. There are times when access to items in the chubby box is very convient, if only to retrieve the car's registration and its insurance coverage if stopped on the road.--Fwiw--Keoke

Hi Brandon,
My feeling is if someone really wants to steal my car or break into the glove box, aka chubby box, then there's no stopping them. I park it with the top down too.

So I brought the locks from the doors, glove box and the trunk (bring the entire trunk handle)to a locksmith and had him key them all to the key for the ignition. He did it while I waited. Now, I don't have to figure out which key opens what.

Maybe you'll post a photo or two of your completed hidden radio project.

Best of luck with your lock and radio aventure.
Roger
