Not for scratchs and such, just to get the darn water spots and build up off??
 
Ahh, and I have some even, did not think of that.
 
OK, what about wiper scratches... you know the light grain the glass takes after 20 years of wipers scraping dust over the windscreen.
 
Think I have seen a real glass polish but not sure you even want to think about that. Kinda like makeing mirrors.
 
I "attempted" that once in a homebuilt telescope project gone wrong... once. I'll stick with nice commercially made glass products from now on. I've never been good with glass-sanding/grinding/polishing patience.
 
Telescope mirrors are far beyond the tolerance which can be achieved by hand.

As far as wiper scratches, if you can feel them with a fingernail, they are too deep to polish. You can smooth them out, but there will still be a distorted line which is sometimes even more annoying than the scratch was!
 
A little baking soda slurry and powdered kitchen scrub (like comet, Ajax) and ample elbow grease will help remove cloudiness and small scratches. I've also use Griot's Garage glass polishing compound for larger scratches with success.
 
If you can find some Bon Ami in you local grocery or hardware store, it works very well for getting the sluck off of glass.
