Give me an "H"

Did a complete frame off restoration on a 67 TR4A and when putting on the metal letter group for the front hood, we broke the "H". Is there anyone willing to sell me a good letter "H" without any pitting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Thanks, for the info, I would really like to put an original letter from an old vintage set on the car to match the ones already there. Reproduction parts are fine but are not quite the same when maybe, I hope there might be someone with a few letters hanging about. I have some extras from the two cars I took apart but it seems the "H"'s suffer the most and don't survive well. I will keep on wishing for the best. Thanks again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Larry -

I may have an "H" from a TR3A - not sure if it's the same. Will check my stuff and get back to you.

Mickey

The nose letters from 61 on are the same. There was a change from ribbed to smooth letters. Problem is that most TR3As are ribbed, so you're better off finding from a TR4 guy. There might be a TR3B person with extras though.

Larry, I'm pretty sure have a stock set of letter from a '67 GT6. Smooth letters. Original, with no pitting.
If I do, they're yours.
I'll check and let you know tomorrow.(Thursday)

Great stuff, and thanks , I will harness up the dog team in anticipation of success. The "H" is the key. Had the typical Triumph experience of having the car towed home last Sunday. Water pump pulley came loose due to the shaft end with nut failing. New one going on tonight and back on the road soon. Still going through the shakedown phase of just putting this LBC back on the road after 6 yrs on the rebuild. The old part looked good on the visual but it finaly said goodbye. Thanks for you help and glad to send you a picture through email if you wish. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Larry make your own letter. Seriously how hard can it be? Hahahaha

Afraid if I do it may effect the streamlining of the hood and cause some form of buffeting that could have be breaking up down the road. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I've been checking for the letters in the workshop and haven't run across them. I know I had a set... But you know how that is!

If I do find them, I'll get back to you.

Mickey

Bin there done that, after taking two cars apart and boxing up all the stuff, I have gone searching through the garage rafters for items in vain. Thinking I knew just where I had put it to be proven wrong. Its the darn cat messin with me again. Thanks very much for the effort. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

OK - Who'll be the first to find them?

Man, this is frustrating! And I knew right where they were!

OK, Larry, I got you an "H". While I was looking, I found two sets!
Now, if you'll let me know where to send it, I'll get it in the post, post haste.
I don't imagine customs is going to be a big deal. I'm not going to have to put it in a bonded warehouse or anything, am I? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

You should make a "country" set of letters: Take small strips of duct tape and stick them on the hood to make it look like an H. And best of all, it won't affect your streamlining! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Larry, did you just want the "H", or do you want me to check the rest of the letters out as well? One set is on the nose of a Spit, and while they would work in an emergency, I think they are to far gone to polish. The "H" from the GT6 looks fine, but I didn't pay much attention to the rest of the letters when I grabbed this one.
Jeff

Great news, sent some pics through your eamail and you could put the little "H" devil in a CD bubble envelope, hope that survives the posties. Should not be a problem with our customs guys. Please send to Larry Spouler 10391 Dennis Crst. Richmond, BC Canada V7A 3R7. Many Many thanks . Just to be sure though my letter set is smooth and dished or curved to the centre with no raised edges. Hope I can return the favor one day. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

You are the man, would like to cover the postage costs, etc. Too far away to take you out for a beer, so please let me know. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Larry, the postage was 72 cents. I think I can swallow that!
But the next time I'm in B.C., the beer's on you. Kokanee, isn't it?
