General Tech Getting the nut off for J Type drive shaft flange

Having a hard time breaking the nut loose for the drive shaft flange on my J type overdrive. The unit is off the transmission and is now being held in my big vice. Tried 1/2" impact, 20" breaker bar. About ready to use an extension bar and thought I'd better ask first. I think I'm going the right direction counter clockwise.

Sounds right to me. I used a 25" bar and still had trouble. Also made up a long bar to bolt to the flange, so I could push and pull in nearly the same axis (for more torque).

Here's a shot of the same bar, working on one of the drive flanges on the diff (much easier to get off).

Don't know why, might be those TR gods at night but gave it more try this morning before I used Randalls set up and it came off with minimal effort.
