Getting the bird

I always walk away from an open car with large sums of money laying on the dash. :rolleyes2:

You are right.... he should have been watching it like a hawk.

I saw that on the news this morning Nial. What did that young lady think was going to happen?
On the soccer pitch it is called dissent and I deal with it too!

FWIW I'd be suspicious of those Canadians

Obviously, she thought the match was already over; not realizing the judge had the power to change the score. Hopefully it was a learning experience.

Sadly I doubt she will learn from the judge's decision.... she needs to grow up.

Yeah but it's abuse of power and not justice. Her saying "adios" is no different then him saying "bye bye"...which he clearly started the matter. How much her belongings are worth is non sequitor as well. Him not liking her response to HIS smart a$$ reply doesn't warrant doubling the bail.

The law says that setting bail is up to the judge. The purpose of bail is to ensure that the defendant shows up for a future court date. The defendant's attitude towards the court certainly plays a part in how likely they are to come back. So considering the defendant's attitude and apparent wealth as factors when setting bail is fully appropriate.

Not sure what "smart a$$ reply" you are talking about. You mean where he cautioned her to be serious and she kept laughing?

Actually she was getting a lesson in respect but she didn't get it. Sadly many of that generation think it is okay to act and say to an elder whatever they would say or act with their peers. They have no thought beyond their peers and think that we are all their peers. Whether she was just plain stupid or disrespectful, I'll bet she got taken down a peg. Good on the judge. She was indeed lucky that she wasn't in front of Judge Judy because she probably would have given her life.

The way he said bye bye. The problem lies in the Judy Judy factor. many of these guys are too fabulous for their own good...or anyone else's for that matter.

Like I said, it had NOTHING to do with justice and everything to do with HIS ego and fabulousity.

HIS behavior was extremely immature, not hers. She's young and some immmaturity is to be expected. He's a mature man and a judge at that and is expected to act as such.

"To whom much is given, much is required"

"Your Honor"...

Anyone who wields their authority like an armed gansta thug cleary doesn't know the meaning of the word.

How much money she has has NOTHING to do with the severity of the crime nor the corresponding bail for that crime. Yeah, I get the flight risk thing but he's asking about possesions, not cash on hand. Asking how much she has in order to take more is a shake down, not justice.

...and for what, Xanex?

Seriously ?!?!?!

Clearly ol' boy coulda used a few...

He's in the wrong proffesion to be antagonizing people.

Rest assured, it's just a matter of time before he's gonna get fabulous with the wrong person.

Well, I can't I envy your future encounters with the legal system; if you think flipping a judge the bird in his own courtroom is appropriate behavior for anyone. Be sure to try that in MS next time you're hauled in for illegal drug use and let us know how that goes.

Almost as bad as giving a state trooper the bird, or calling said individual a fat pr*ck... Police car ride!
