Please take the time to check all your lights on your LBC's when you take them out of hibernation.

Last summer my Brake lights quit working due to a bad connection at the fuse box. It could be a disaster if you go out for a drive without brake lights.

I saw a TR6 on ebay that was smashed in the rear. That reminded me to check my brake lights before I get the car out on the road this spring.
Just thought I'd pass it along, I'd hate to hear one of us got in an accident due to faulty brake lights.
 
Tom, speaking of brake lights, do you know of any way to make the brake lights on a TR6 BRIGHTER. Mine work fine and are probably up to standard, but just not bright enough for today's SUVs barrowing down the road. I've heard of some trying halogen bulbs but I don't think they are compatable with Lucas tail-light wires.

The candle power is determaned by the bulb recomended by the manufacturer. The most common reason for the dull look is the reflector in the lense housing. As they age their reflective lining flakes or dulls. That's why the lense area illuminated seems to be centerd rather than fill most of the lense. You can try removing the lense & get a reflective foil & using a spray glue re-line the reflector. You can try polishing it but the original material was like a plastic chrome plateing that just turns to crap.
LED replacement bulbs are available but I'm not sure how much of an improvement it would make. Maybe some one who has tried this could chime in.
I've often thought about a third brake light mounted at the rear trunk lid, infront of the gas cap but never took the plunge, although I do think it would be a definite safety plus.

I got a pair of magnetic base towing lights at WallyMart... divided them in two and made third brake lights for the TRs. Okay, they look butt ugly but just the thing for driving in traffic with the SUVs et al on my tail:

I have a genuine Lucas disconnect inside the boot (bullet connectors) so they can be removed and stowed for shows or club drives when you trust the guy behind you. I do use a soft pad under the magnet to protect the paint.
 
I have used the shiny silver reflective window tinting film on a few before. I have also used silver spray paint. Both seem to work pretty well.
