Jerry, Thank you for the priceless intel and the good wishes! I've printed that out to hand to my duly impressed wife/navigator.

Bob, I've added a pertronix module, wire set and some rotors (though a few less than 30) to the parts stash. I wanted a distributor cap, but Moss is out of stock at the moment. I have a couple of days to try to source one locally, but the one in there looks pretty good.

Thanks to all, about a week of prep to go. Can't wait!
 
I took a 550 mile round trip on the weekend to Key West FL and got burned up by the sun... The sunscreen I had was one of those spray on ones and I found afterwards that the useful ingredients had set solid in the can and it was just spraying alcohol.

Wish the trip could have been in a Healey but a 72 Ford LTD will do a good second best

OK, it was a great trip and the car was flawless. Got a day of rain, but four days of great weather and some spectacular views.

The car used 1/2 quart of VR1 in 1047 miles, averaged almost 18 mpg, had one flat 1/2 hour from home (leaking schrader valve and I didn't have a core tool).It took 15 minutes to change out.

Thanks to all for your help and support. This was a memorable trip for all the right reasons.

Bonus: I saw two Healeys top down and roaring along in Canada last Sunday (9-16-12). A blue one going North on 21 and a red nasty boy on the 402 going East near Sarnia.

Hope you were having as much fun as we were!

Bravo to cbvrfr and that handsome Healey!

Healeys are really quite reliable and fun to travel in. You picked a great time of year and place too, probably not too hot. The Healeys can take the heat but the occupants do take a beating when the outside temp gets into the 90's.

Thanks for sharing, see you down the road. I will add a valve core tool to my packing list, they sure don't take up much room. I miss when they put these tools on the valve caps, somehow that practice ended a few years ago.
