I usually don't take walk-ins at my dental office, but yesterday morning I glanced outside and noticed a handsome middle-aged woman exit an odd looking motor home in the parking lot next door. She appeared and disappeared and then came in my front door with her husband. He explained that his wife had a toothache and could I see her. Well, I whisked her into the chair, took a film and explained that she needed and extraction. Making a short story long, in conversation with her husband, they were on an extended tour of The Western Hemisphere, by motor home. They were in their ninth month of travel. They did South America (and I am not talking about south Texas) first and were now up here. (How did they cross that pesky Canal?) Their means of transportation was a German motor home. From the markings, looked like a rental. Anyway, he also explained that although his camper drove, a sensor had gone out (he carried his own diagnostic computer) and did I know of a mechanic. My favorite shade-tree mechanic works just up the street from my office and he fit them in, calling all over the universe for said sensor. Will have to have it overnighted in from Germany. She will be back in Wednesday for the tooth extraction, hopefully a new sensor for their camper, and maybe, just maybe, some fond memories of 'merica......
