Ouch! I’m not so sure we should go about counting how many “British car garages” we have in one area or another as a unit of measure for how many LBCs reside there. I don’t believe that any good could come of it.

Okay, Okay, Good point! Although... if your LBC needs work done it's nice to have your choice of repair shops. The guy from Detroit told me he only knew of one shop he could go to with his car.

At the end of the day... we can still claim British Car Day in Oakville, Ontario. It's amazing what the sight of 1,000 plus British cars all in one place looks like.

We've got two within a mile of each other in Daytona, and two others about 10 miles south of Daytona. Up until last year there was another large shop about 30 minutes away in Orlando, but he's since moved a little further south.

That’s fine. But even with Detroit being the motor city capital (where American cars are still King), I still think it’s a bit of a stretch to say that there is only one shop there.

As far as the original question goes regarding – “who (geographically) has the most MGBs in their area?” – I’d believe we’d be hard pressed to say with any certainly that one area is more populated than another with one type of car or another. So if the number of cars you called out is correct - I will (in the intrests of better relations with our Canadian friends to the north) concede that your British Car Day has a bigger turn-out that ours here in San Diego CA. I mean even if did we have more than you I don’t feel like trying to count’em all.

My only caveat to that concession would be: That it is vary easy for a few hundred cars of one type or another (like MGBs) to get all but lost when you have as many cars as California does on the roads at any given moment. Example: the DMV reported about 5 years ago that there where more legally registered vehicles in LA county than the total number of people living in 26 of the of the 50 states. Remember this fact-toid is quite old and isn’t counting cars belonging to folks working here, but still have their cars (illegally) registered in another state. Not to mention the 100’s of thousands of vehicles crossing north out of Mexico each day. Mind you most of these return each night - but I think you get the idea.

While I do have a number in my head - I won’t count British Garages located here. However I would like to mention that I know of at least 4 restoration shops with in twenty minutes of where I live that specialized in British cars.

After viewing some of the posts, I would have to say that likely several regions have higher concentrations. California seems quite strong based on representation on BCF. Like I said earlier Victoria, BC and the Greater Toronto Area also have higher concentrations. And perhaps Florida? Where else? In some cases this reflects population size, but I do know that in Victoria (which has relatively low population, I believe) a large number of British people, in proportion to the population, have settled there over the years and subsequently brought their love of British cars with them.

As for the British repair garage measurement... I'm quite certain that's what the guy from Detroit told me, that's all I'm going on. Anyway, my basic point is that where a greater concentration of British cars are you will likely see many more repair garages to service the need, as most of these businesses are fairly small as well. And I guess Toronto isn't alone.

YUP!!! only about a million people live on the whole island!!! And it is about 350 miles long and 50 miles wide!! I believe 750,000 in Greater Victoria!!
