Spitfire Generator fan rubbing/scraping

Any advice will be appreciated. Installed new generator from Moss in my 66 Spitfire mk2. It works great however the fan I purchased separately because the new generator did not include one rubs and scrapes against the generator housing. It fits free and has a little shimmy, thus it is quiet at times and scrapes when rpms increase and off and on scraping during normal driving. I double and triple checked and this was installed according to the instructions and as the original generator was set up.

Is there a simple fix such as adding a washer or is the fan junk?

Whatever you can do to get it tight and stop any free motion and rubbing is what you should do.

Is your fan an original or a repro? Same question regarding the generator? Meanwhile, I think Bob has nailed it!

Thank you, problem solved. The fan spins freely so you cant tighten the pully down and lock the fan to the pully.

Found the spacer on the new generator was not the same at the original, it did not extend as far, think it was manufactured incorrectly. I added 2 thin snap rings and seems all is good.
