generator-alternator conversion

I'm rebuilding a '61 bugeye and replaced the 948 and generator with a 1275 and alternator out of a '74 midget.
1) Going from positive to negative ground........ anything out of the obvious to do? ( No radio involved )
2) Wiring of the alternator (Lucas 23750A, 16ACR, 3 wire)....... any advice as to what is required? Where does the yel/grn and the yel wires from the harness go on the Alt "IND, +, +" connector?
3) The Lucas Voltage regulator ( RB105) is still in place. Can it remain in place or must any wiring modifications be done? I believe the ALt has a built in regulator so it may negate the need for this. If so, what wiring changes are required?
4) ANy connections directly from the alt to battery? If so, what gauge wire?

I'd really hate to light up a brand new wiring harness and/or fry a few components so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

DAve
