Generator Adjusting Bracket, HELP!?

I found the tach cable that i THOUGHT I didn't order while working last night so I decided to try to put it on. It's obvious that I have the wrong belt, no worries its easy to replace. While removing it to determine what size belt I need I realized that the bracket on my generator will not allow enough adjustment.

Does anyone know the the bracket listed in the Moss catalog is the right length for the bubeye? I need to get one on order with priority shipping if it will work.

Thanks!

Re: Generator Bracket

Okay, it looks like I may be screwed here. The part that VB shows is really a 1275 alt bracket which is what I have and is way to short.

Does anyone have an extra bracket? Do you have one that you could get some measurements from? Im sure that I could make one but need to know the length etc.

Thanks,

Re: Generator Bracket

Hmmmm... didn't I mention this a few weeks ago?

Let me go take a look.

Worse case scenario is you have to buy a generic and cut to length and drill.

Re: Generator Bracket

Total length is 8 inches. Center of hole to edge of slot approx 5.25 inches and 7.25 on far end.

Re: Generator Bracket

Straight of course... hit the metal scrap pile. width is 1.125 and thickness is a little over .125

Re: Generator Bracket

They usually have curved ones. Go to lowes and buy a bit of flat stock and tackle it with your cutoff wheel and drill.

Re: Generator Bracket

Sounds correct, but I away from the garage at the moment.

Re: Generator Bracket

I used two 1275 ones as I did not have a correct one nor did anyone seem to want to give one up.

Re: Generator Bracket

10 minute job... 15 minutes if you paint it.

Re: Generator Bracket

1.Measure and mark layout on 1" wide 1/8" flat stock.
2.Drill three holes (one for generator and one at each end of the adjustment slot)
3.Cut off to length and round corners with cut off wheel.
4.Cut adjustment slot.
5. clean up burrs with files.
6. clean and paint.

Re: Generator Bracket

Glad it worked out. Are you pulling late nights in a mad dash to the finish?

Re: Generator Bracket

Yes, was up til 2am last night then had another wake up at 4am when my daughters stomach decided to empty itself. Was NOT a good night. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Im installing interior now and things are coming together. I've been meaning to take a pic of the front tilt setup on my car. I know that you were interested in that at one time. Its working out really well so far and I dont even have any scraped or scratched paint,

Thanks again,

Re: Generator Bracket

Yes... pictures would be great. Maybe you'll have an opportunity this weekend to snap a few picts.

And... I know all about the interrupted sleep syndrome. I have a five YO and a 2YO. I am a stay at home father... so I'm always the one that has to handle such issues.
