Hi, Can anyone tell me where a Lotus Eclat gearbox mount comes from ? Is it Ford ? I dont want to pay lotus prices if I can avoid it. Ta
 
Neil, I didn't check for the mount specifically, but this is a fair cross reference for the cars I have. Good luck. Hope it helps!

Trip to a parts house with part in hand and a look at their Cortina parts illustrations?? -- Just tryin' to "ruminate outside th' container" a bit. If you try that, let us know how you get on?
 
In the right place to pick up cheap MK11 cortina parts? I have not seen a sierra for years , never mind a Cortina. They have all rusted away years ago! ah well. I checked cortina gearbox mount on ebay, and immediately found one ( with photograph)from a Morgan specialist. Now you know.
By the way, the gearbox, and its 2 litre lotus engine are going into an Austin Healey Sprite ! Next problem will be back axle. hehehe

I am amazed that even the Sierra is a rare beast nowadays! Those darn Cortinas were still ten a penny when I left, so I thought that you could still get the parts relatively easily.
 
Closing the bonnets easy. Ive got an angle grinder.
I will post pictures when its done. Fitting the gearbox was more than I thought, but its about right now.
Cortinas hve all gone. I tried to locate a Sierra for its gearbox from a car breaker friend and he couldnt help. In Scotland we use lots of salt on the roads so that old cars are at least 8 years old !

Know "salt" too well: I lost too many LBC's and Alfas to it to endure any more in 1979... Florida is now "home" and I don't live on a waterway, on purpose.
 
ya know doc... I lived in Sand Destin, FL for a while, and that place was brutal on exposed metal. Then again, I was litterally less than 100yards from the Gulf of Mexico 90% of the time.
 
When I spent time at Patrick AFB, I saw a Camaro less than two years old and it looked like a red lace car... couldn't believe it... then it sunk in that it spent the entire time snuggled up to the Atlantic. Not the condition here: I'm a whole five miles inland. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
