TR2/3/3A Gearbox drain plug threads stripped?

This may have been covered before but what's the best way to repair a stripped out drain plug hole? I have to pull the gearbox to change out the clutch so it's a good time to do this fix. Any suggestions?

When I had that problem (on a non-Triumph), I had a friend TIG up the hole, so I could drill & tap. But I already had the gearbox apart. In your case, I'd probably go with one of the oversized, self-tapping plugs.

Other options include a Helicoil (but NPT helicoil kits are crazy expensive), or tapping to the next plug size.
