The top of the gear box tunnel, where the shifter sticks up: There's a bit of vinyl covering the tunnel that's not covered by the carpet. It's one piece, a circle of vinyl, of sorts, that's glued to the tunnel.

Either the factory, or the PO, didn't make the piece long enough and I've had a bit of fiberglass showing, about 1-1/2 inches wide.

Since the tunnel is off, I've decided to replace the vinyl. It looks like the same stuff that covers the dash.

What is it and where do I get some?
 
I went to a fabric store and got marine grade vinyl. It has more of a matt finish with a good leather texture to it than your average vinyl.
 
Hi Dar 100, that material is called Leather Cloth I do not know where it is available in the US. Perhaps Macgreggor has it in CA ? However, Greg's Idea is probably just as good .---Keoke
 
Fabric stores will carry several types of vinyl, especially in black. Take a sample that you are trying to match to the store and you should find a close match.
 
Heritage Trim has the correct vinyl in the right thickness, grain and color. It really stretches well in all directions for complying to the contours of the tunnel (or instrument panel, dash pad etc.). I struggled with good results when using the Moss vinyl and highly recommend the Heritage stuff.

Thanks all, I'm not stuck anymore, I'll phone Heritage tomorrow and then head off to the fabric store, it's just a wee piece, I'll try both...

I used leather, same color, same texture as the vinyl. PO used vinyl and it had a seam where the two ends meet. The leather streched more, so no seam at all. One piece, cut a hole in the middle, streched and glued it.
