Okay, I was browsing eBay and came across this - it is similar to a limited edition model I purchased in 1980. It's the same color without some of the added on stuff, and it brought back some great memories. Anyway, I bid on it out of boredom (and fall sports car fever), and won the bid (unexpectedly). It seemed to be in very good original condition, and it has air conditioning. I could use this one for cross-country trips to Kansas in the summer. Anyway, no point in trying to justify it to myself at this point. Here it is:

Yeah, I think this could be one of those lucky shots, tdskip. The guy had 20 pictures posted, and the odometer had around 30,000 miles on it - maybe flipped only once. He gave what seemed to be an honest description. I have a friend nearby who will pick it up for me. He knows a lot about sports cars and can give me a good assessment. I'll be busy when I come back to the states in November... one coming out of the shop and driving to Ohio to pick this one up. That's a good kind of busy.

As far as being a wedgehead, DNK - well, partially.
 
How can you go wrong for the money? Looks like it's in decent shape. Good luck with it.

Do consider a V8 transplant. Not a tough job, and well worth the effort.

Ditto on the Polara. And thanks for the Tenn invite. That would be some excellent driving! ...not to mention the possibilites to catch a concert in Nashville...maybe Graceland. That could be a cool trip, but pretty much out of the way - PA to KS.

By the way, I can't even think about a V8 conversion. My checkbook is smoking from the TR6 restoration...

Congrats. Just to let you know. If you see another brit car up ahead on the road, you are required to go by that car as fast as you possible can. We have a reputation to uphold here. We are, after all, Triumphs bad boys!
 
Congrats on the wedge Dan, I hope to have a TR8 (or TR7V8) one of these days, but I can't imagine selling the 6 to make room. Time to start planning the garage addition!

I've done the PA (and points east) to/from KS thing a couple of times in the last few months once in a minivan and once in a Cessna (just yesterday in fact), now I guess I need to do it in an LBC just for completeness since I've also made the trip in American, Japanese, and French cars as well! Look me up when you get here!
 
Well, Todd, I've have long-lived that tradition - just make sure you pull over when I flash my lights!

Okay Aerokee, I'll let you know when I am around. I'll probably have the TR7 there next summer if I can get it up to par by then.


By the way, I have made that trip before in my TR6 from KC to PA. I bought the car in Topeka, and wanted to take it back to PA with me. So, the first time I only got about 100 miles out of KC, and the rings went. The second time made it about 400 miles, and the rear end went out. I had it towed back to KC. The thrid time I managed to get it to PA, although it was not running well.

I've logged thousands of miles on that run. I prefer to do it in all in a day. It's a long run, but I find that if I leave by 4 AM, it's not too bad. If I have a convertible, it's actually a nice long day with the car.
