What size gauges were fitted in a 100? I would like to eventually replace mine but wasn't sure on the diameter used. I forgot to measure the cutouts when I had my gauges out to refinish the dash. I have SW gauges in now and spacer rings were used on the speedo and tach to fill the gap.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if you could measure from the face since the cutout is smaller.

The cutout for the large gauges is probably close to 3.5" It's been a while, but I think the Smiths gauges come in nominal 3" or 4". Here's the backside of a BJ8 speedo; AFAIK the gauge sizes for all Big Healeys are the same.speedo.jpg

if you are not concerned about original gauges you might look into speedhut gauges. they are available in lots of types and colors to include gps speedometer. i have them in both my v8 healeys. no affiliation with speedhut! sizes are available to fit the healey without modification...at least 100-6 and bj7. the speedometer can be bought as as a combination gauge with the fuel indicator. the fuel indicator can be adjusted to accomodate the healey sender as well as low fuel indicator. gauges can also include indicator lights for turn signals and high beam. i use the original healey turn signal indicator for chage light.IMG_2266.jpg

I kinda like those Stewie Warners, they have an old-school hot rod look to them and are what a lot of the original Cobras came with. I can't tell for sure, but they look like some of the older gauges rather than the new ones that are mostly made of plastic. OTOH, those Speedhuts that Larry has are sweet and the GPS speedo makes synching up gears, trannys and different tire sizes.

Yes, they are the older style and I do like the look. I just wish the speedo and tach were the correct size to fit the original holes. In the below pic you can see how a previous owner made rings to use as spacers so the smaller gauges can be used in the larger original holes.

Yeah, I have SWs as well. It looks like when they converted my car in the late 1980s they used spacers and then upholstered over it. It doesn't stand out as much as the shiny metal.
