Can anyone give me the name and number or web site for a good source to rebuild my water temp? ( po cut the end off)Also I would like to go ahead and refurmish the speedommetor and tach.
I know there is a place in New Mexico with an odd name but I can't quite remember it. Mamows or something close to that.

Thanks Bob

Hi Bob,
The place you are thinking of is:
Mo-Ma.
1321 2nd St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102
(505) 766-6661

FWIW, I've used:
North Hollywood Speedometer & Clock Co.
6111 Lankershim Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA 91606
Phone 818-761-5136
https://www.nhspeedometer.com/

At the time I had my tach done, turn-around was about 3 days (no shipping 'cause they're local to me).

Thanks Randy and Greg, The gromet idea is a good one . I wouldn't have thougt of that. Turn around time is important as I hope to finally put this car on the road soon. I took the upper brow of my grill to a shop to send off to have it chromed and he advised me it would take 3- 4 months before I got it back. I brought it home with me thinking I would rather use it as is than to be without it for that long. Do either of you know of a good chrome plating vendor that will get to my 1 piece in a timely manner? Also since I see you both have older Healeys with the metal type transmission covers I was curious as what to use for a seal between the 2 covers. I had the original piece but after 5 years I can't seem to locate it.
Thanks again Bob

I was really happy with the work Nisonger did for me, they had the instruments for about 2 weeks, including shipping time.

I can't really recommend a chrome shop. Here in CA, EPA regulations make the process quite expensive and I've only gotten OK results. I actually have a fiberglass tranny tunnel, so I'll let someone else field that question.

Hi Bob,

Send a PM to COASTALMAN as I think he told me that he used a re-chrome shop in Fayetteville. I think he was happy with the results.

Ed

Well yeah Creg, it's a bit expensive but if you send it to Christian in East LA you will not be disappointed, However don't be in a hurry as the turn around time is a bit long. He does a lot of the Pebble Beach peoples chroming. Similarly. Nisonger will not disappoint any one needing instrument rebuilds. What they return to you looks like brand new!--Keoke

keoke, yah nisongers, hes round da cornah from me, did some of my stuff, wow we agree on sumtin, nice surprise!, still wanna know how much ya got fur dat fire breathin dragon i give ya!

Bob,I used Chrome Rite in Fayetteville, NC. They did an excellent job on all the chrome I sent them. It is not cheap and it will take a few weeks to get done. Call them and see what their turn around time is now. I was well pleased.

I just did this last summer. I have a 1960 BN7 side shift trans. I ordered a new seal from British Car Specialists (Nock family) and some aircraft cowl seal material from Aircraft Spruce Company. The British Car Specialists seal seals the joint between the firewall cover and the trans. cover. The cowl seal material I used to seal the joint between the firewall cover and the firewall and the trans. cover to the floor plan. This seal material comes in a 3" strip 9 feet long. I had to cut multiple pieces to make it work, but I'm pleased with the result.
Here is the Aircraft Spruce part number.
