Gauge cleaning and refurbishing

Paul: Very nice work, as usual. I really aprreciate your presentations.
Something I didn't hear you mention....did you just clean or repaint the
black trim on the chromed faces of your gauges, especially the
tach and speedo?

They look pretty nice, in any case; and if you painted them, what did you
use and what was the approach?

2W,

The black on all of the bezels was in really good shape.

I did use a wide black felt tipped marker to touch up a few small spots and then just used the Pledge over them and they blended right in.

The felt tip will work fine for a while as long as you don't park in the sun a lot. "Permanent" markers aren't really permanent when exposed to UV light.

I use thinned Testor's flat black model paint on a fine detail brush to touch up spots. It's not a perfect match but for small blemishes the result is acceptable. Touching up more than minor spots with model paint isn't practical or cosmetically acceptable.

Doug,

I agree with you. Mine were so small that it won't matter if they do show again. I was experimenting and did not want to end up with brush strokes on the bezels.

I understand completely. I'm sure your gauges will look great for a long time Paul.
