Gasket sets?

This is going to seem like a stupid question but does anybody sell a full gasket set for a TR3? When I look at the regular suppliers everything is listed seperately and not even all of them are listed? I'm rebuliding the engine so I need all of them and I don't really want to try and figure out every single one as I will surely miss one or two when it comes down to it. When I've built american made motors you just get a complete engine set and you're done.

Not as far as I know. You can buy the engine "head set" (TRF REG178) and the "conversion set" (TRF REG248); but they still won't have the front & rear main seals or any of the carburetor, transmission, differential, etc gaskets. (Moss also has these sets, and I assume VB does; I just don't have their part numbers handy.)

The last conversion set I got also didn't have the fiber gasket for the timing cover support; and I hear that the aftermarket sets don't have enough felt for the rear main bearing to block joint. I don't recall the copper washers or various galley/core plugs being in there either (but you may or may not want to replace those).

Thanks Randall, seems very odd that they don't cobble an entire set together for a complete engine build. I just built a 425 nailhead, one box complete with every gasket you'd need, seems logical to me.

A problem of market size, IMO. There are probably more cars on the road today that take your 425 gasket set (which also fits 364, 400, and 401 according to a quick Google) than the entire production run of TR2-4A. And there just aren't that many people still doing full rebuilds of TR motors.
For example, Felpro (who likely made your Buick gasket set) used to make TR gaskets but they don't any more. Payen (OEM to Triumph and previously the most popular supplier) has also just recently dropped the TR2-4 market, likely for the same reason. At some point, it just doesn't make sense to manufacture something where you can only sell a few copies per year.

Frankly, I am just grateful that parts availability for TRs is as good as it is (and cheap). Believe it or not, TR parts availability is much better today than it was 40 years ago (when they were still building Triumphs).

I guess that must be true but I figured if they sell all the gaskets seperately why not package them as a full set? I'm going to piece it all together as best I can and hopefully I'll end up with the full set. The head set and conversion set you mentioned is a very good start.

Thanks for the help
