Well yesterday I did what every average American does once a week or so, I filled my gas tank up. I did a unusual thing probably a first for me I payed at t the pump.
I'm sitting there filling up the B and the guy next say "What year is that"shocked i replayed 77,and we started off are conversation.
Hes fully restoring a 71 B. I invited him to my next car club event this Friday, and gave him my phone number.
I cant believe that some one has a B in my town beside me, I mean there's only 5,000 people are so.
I got in the car after giving my my number and Liz just smiles and shakes her head.

Congratulations! You have discovered one of the joys of owning an LBC. Tell Liz that she might as well get used to it, you will be talking to people at gas stations for as long as you own the 'B.

You are something special you know, a young guy with a clasic car that kinda did it himself. I know you had lots of help but the folks at the gas pump don't. Enjoy enjoy, spring is here.
 
Yep, get used to it at gas pumps, at stoplights, in parking lots, driving down the road. Just get used to it. When you think you've talked to everybody about your ride, someone else will come along and it will start all over again.

I've had people asking me at gas stations if my B is the "Bond car" or an Aston Martin. When I tell them that its an MG, the first question is: "Who makes 'em?"
 
I know you had a lot of help, but then so do we all with our cars. But you stuck with it and didn't give up and now you are enjoying the real fun of owning a little British car. May it bring you many years of fun in the sun!

I get that a lot at gas stations stop lights and stop signs. I have been asked if it was a bond car quite a few times now. It must be the color. It's funny but when you take one of these cars out you always seem to run into someone who is in the process of bringing one back or had one in there past. My dad complains about it as the few times he has taken it out he ends up talking British cars with someone and he doesn’t speak car.
 
Fake speeking car. Ahh yea, this car is preaty old but looks good and drives well. Actually my son let me borrow it, nice kid. But then I always let him drive my sports cars when he was growing up.
 
He was forced to give up sports cars right before I showed up. He had a Black 67B that he still talks fondly about and still has the title for. I think I'm going to have to find him another one when I settle down and take the B with me. He's already threatening to do what his father did to him. Sell the B and replace it with a maverick. Shudder.
 
Keenan, glad to see you here and loved your story. I've lived it many times and always find time to talk to those that want to take a look. Had a guy the other day that had to weigh 300 pounds or better and he just wanted to sit in one of "those litte cars". His wife was cracking up watching him both get in and out. My first stop at the gas - station in mine resulted in 4 people asking me about it, and 45 minutes of conversations. Pretty cool! One guy even pulled into the station just to ask if I wanted to sell it.

Why would he need 93 octane Tony?
 
Its all I put in my cars - never had a moment trouble in over 100,000 miles with my original '79....I think, since he really doesn't know the condition of that engine, he should toss 93 into it - preferably Amoco white - to ensure its cleaned out.
 
I run low octane in Emma, no lead additives. I do wash a tankful of 93 through in the fall and in the spring, but for no apparent reason actually.

We don't have Amoco stations here any more, for the most part, not sure about Iowa though. How long's he need to do that? Few tanksful?
 
I do it always - but they say 5 tanks will clean out a fuel system....& I'd add seafoam to the oil also
 
My favorite gas station encounter was when someone approached me and said that his father had an MGB once, but he didn't remember it being that small. I told him that I accidently washed mine in hot water. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
