Can anybody tell me what color the gas tank is supposed to be? 1965 TR4A. I have one which is crudely spray painted aluminum and one which I don't think is original (the one I am going to use) and it is flat black. Seems like gloss black would offer more protection but I will paint it whatever it is supposed to be. Thanks Bruce

I most case's a satin black over gloss. In any case it's the inside not the outside a fresh seal kit and cleaning most needed with todays gas. MF

I do know how close satin and semi gloss black are. I suspect pretty much the same. The TRA restoration guidelines usually calls for semi gloss black.

I have a tank I just took out of a GT 6 TR and cleaned off a spot about a 1/3 and sprayed gloss and satin on parts of it. I did not have satin in black but the sheen was very close in brown to TR factory black ( satin ) poor lighting for a good pic. MF

Ok Thanks guys. I have sealed the inside of the tank with Red Cote. I have flat black and gloss black (of course) so I will pick up some satin black to finish it. Bruce
