When I fill the tank to FULL...the car smells up the garage.....if I run it down a quater....smells fine...any ideas? Thanks in advance...Ed

Im not certain...checking now! There is a black rubber (in good shape) derby shaped piece which appears to be spring load, which should provide a decent seal when closed. But no gasket.

What Year Is your 6. There differences between early and later.. There are rubber connections for the emission control system attached to the filler neck, under the rear deck panel, that maybe deteriorated and need replaced or you may have a leak around the sending unit gasket.
And never over fill the tank. When the pump shuts off it's full.
Pull the panel in the boot. My guest is the sending unit gasket.
