I put in a VB fuel pump yesterday. Today whenI got to work and went out on break, there was gas leaking quickly from the top of the pump. The top gasket had swelled and pulled away from the top. It appears the top gasket is not gasoline proof. Anyone else has this problem?

Yes, I've had that happen. Do you have your old pump? Use the gasket from that if you do.

Thanks for the advice. At least I got home. VB is sending out a new gasket. I will place it in gasoline to see if it holds up this time.
 
Also, if you happen to have an old original pump kicking around, steel the brass screen from the inside and replace the crappy plastic one inside the reproduction pump. I find the plastic screen tends to deform and disintegrate in the 'new' gas.

There is a very good company that sells all the "right" stuff to rebuild your old one.
 
Do you folks recommend installing a pre-pump inline fuel filter? Just a thought to keep that new pump in good condition..

Yes, for sure. Many of us also have an inline shut off valve installed as well.

Absolutely. I even know a couple of people who have yet another filter between the pump and the carbs.
