GarageMahal Update

Today, we rearranged the "inventory"...hehehehe

Moved a couple of Midgets into the finished 'Midget Room' - here's a photo (they both have their factory hardtops in place)...they're covered with construction dust...I still have lots of work to do but am at least I'm getting closer.

...& here's the side of the 'Midget Room' that the photo didn't show (yes, I know the work bench is messy - I've been piling stuff on it during construction...but at least now I can get to it!)

...&, my '69 MGC GT is finally inside (in the main showroom)!

...Now I can start working on the 'Center Room' that just in front of the 'Midget Room' (you see part of it in the first photo)...it'll hold my '63 Midget, my '53 TD, & my motorcycle! (Gotta get a '66 Midget though!)

Re: GarageMahal Update

Just wait till he has to move everything out so he can do the floors.

Re: GarageMahal Update

So that's what a 74 Midget looks like without 'Sabrinas'!

Your Midget room is bigger than my home garage, I love it.

Re: GarageMahal Update

Still haven't figured the floors out yet, Jack - after all, there's about 4,000 square feet to do!

Yep, mine's an early one with round wheel arches.

Re: GarageMahal Update

The floors are going to cost a fortune. But if you go cheap, it won't last and you'll be in or even more money and a second project. If you decide to paint, I have a source for the last paint you will ever need.

Re: GarageMahal Update

Painting my shop floors with epoxy was one of the best things I did. I can spill anything and it cleans right up. One time I cleaned up dried paint with acetone! No problem. Frank

Re: GarageMahal Update

I priced "U-Coat-It" for my barn's workshoppe (about 24' x 16') It was in the USD $500 ballpark. I ended up with epoxy paint from Menards (home improvement center) for about USD $90.

My storage/work area is 48' x 48' ... there is no way I could afford to "U-Coat-It". Even regular commercial grade epoxy would cost a small fortune.

I continue to work on the barn...it is slowly coming together. Once I get the office and workhshoppe complete, then I can bring in the two-post lift.

Then...Katy-bar-the-door....the V8 *might* even get finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Curious minds.....what, prey tell, is the name of this paint/source?!

Re: GarageMahal Update

Let me know when you are ready to do floors Tony, I need to help and learn the process.

Re: GarageMahal Update

Rick, it's an industrial paint that is completely impervious to solvents and fluids. I spilled a bunch of brake fluid, let it sit for a while and wiped it right up. Hard as nails, too. This is the same stuff they use on aircraft hanger floors. I will never do business with the company I bought it from again, but I do have the manufacturer's info. I'll look it up.

See Part 6 and Part 7 on this page: https://www.mgnuts.com/garage/

Re: GarageMahal Update

Steve, I too would like to know what this product is and the manufacture please.

Re: GarageMahal Update

Nice work, Tony. I'm continually envious of your garage space. A multiple-room garage is just a good thing. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Re: GarageMahal Update

Wish I could figure out how to draw a blueprint on the internet - I could show you guys the complete layout.

Re: GarageMahal Update

Tony,
What is the ceiling made from?

Graph paper, pencil, and a scanner (or digital camera) works pretty well. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Really, any digital painting software should be able to do a basic drawing. MS Word might even do it if you have such software. For free, there is the GIMP, an opensource PhotoShop-type program.

I'd love to see the floorplan you've got.

Re: GarageMahal Update

MS Paint will do. Crude, but even drawing to scale is possible with it.
