Garage Progress

Logistics are the problem. Sharp bend to entrance of rear drive, 8'-2" gate, and sharp bend at the end of drive to garage.I'm afraid to much twisting and turning by heavy trucks will tear-up the new asphalt. It was the only place space & the local authorities would let me put it (in fact I still have to finish the 600sf rain garden the keep the county happy).
Getting fuel to the garage is something I have to work out.

Man, I haven't seen one of those in years!

Geez, Bud! Sounds as if you're living in Kalifornia or Florida!

...though I s'pose the "impact" mentality is now ubiquitous.

I have gas heat in the house but the garage is detached. I was thinking about tapping off the BBQ with a flexible copper line and running it towards the garage. I can then look for some kind of natural gas unit. I still need to insulate & rock but that is coming soon, well probably spring.

can't help it! I have a similar circumstance. Either rely on friends or hire out (not likely)!

..only "fly" is: when the "friends'" cars break, guess who gets to fix 'em? Then when the reciprocal help is needed there seem to be a plethora of "other issues".

... my list of "friends" is much diminished. Down to three or four. Most of those are of the 15 year or more variety.

Don't forget to make a couple of helpers, Ts just the right length to hold em in place while you screw em in. A couple of 2x4s and a cross peice. 2x4s just a bit longer than the height so you can wedge em up there.

Yeh, I'm gonna need a rock lift for those 5/8" sheets for the ceiling, the wifes got a bad back.

Luckily I've got a friend to help. There are 20 sheets of 1/2" rock in the garage right now with his name on them.

It only seems to drop into the teens here for maybe a week or two, but we have one of those kerosene/oil tube shaped heaters in our shop at work... a 60x60 building with 18ft roof. Works really well.

Today I saw for rent a deal, $40 per day that allows you to put plaster board on the cealing by your self. Check with your local rent place.

Seems to me this is the way to go no matter how many helpers you have.
