Guy called me yesterday, said he had a VW powered kit car he was getting rid of. Sounded strange and I nearly blew it off. Called me today and I figured what the heck. He opened the door and I just about fell over. He boght this car four years ago in Calif from the factory that builds the car. Its a Kellmark, and was one of eight factory built vehicles. Monster beetle engine with a computer controlled turbo. Every bell and whistle, thero. activated elec fans/oil coolers, performance heads, case. all internals. Custom interior, c/d system..you name it. He says he got to old to enjoy it and wife said it has to go. At 8am tomorrow it will be in my shop with way too many other cars...

Geez Jack!!! You're beginnin' t' SCARE me!!!

I was never a big fan of the Kelmark cars but if one were a "factory" built example I could be "swayed". They'd be CERTAIN it had everything it could get just so any prospective customer could drool.

Congrats! I think I'd drive th' snot outta that'n!!

Nice lines. Lucky dog.

Jack, you're REALLY startin' to irritate me!

Hey, Basil - can't you DO something about this guy??? :jester:

Congrats anyway!

Mickey

Guys...and gals:smile: I'm not gloating....OKAY...I AM...no really , I've been very fortunate. My biggest bit of luck is having the best wife in the world, one who not only understands where I'm coming from but travels this crazy road with me. Take this period of time, four week-ends in a row...four car shows in the state and she scolds me when I say I probaly won't go. I've been to two and have one tomorrow. Taking the CGT, my 76B thats for sale and with any luck this fine little kit car...either on a trailer or under its own power. I was hoping my 911 would be ready but the new engine won't be here for about another week. I'm afriad I have also infected my two adult offspring...I'm gearing up to do a 65 Mustang for my daughter..and my 32 year old son will have one of the fastest bugs around..2180cc, freeway flyer trans, dropped and slammed with a Scat pro-car leather interior. I wonder if there is a pill for this disease???

WHAT disease???! You're very BLESSED!! Now, go and polish that pedestal you have for your wife, she deserves it! LoL

Okay we need to have a new survey,

WHAT IS GOING TO FOLLOW JACK HOME NEXT WEEK

Wow!

Really *nice* in a Porsche-904 kind of way.

:yesnod: ...or Dino 246 GT as well.

Those square door-handles spoils it a bit though...

- They were probably the ones that were on sale when
the car was built (lowest bidder).

I *think* the were AMC.

later Ambassador. Lockset was integral with the handles...

Izzat YOUR Gremmie, Art?!?!

I have never owned anything made by AMC!!! A bunch of Fords, two GM vehicles and two Mopars (which I hated). The rest were them foreign P'sOS...LBCs, VeeDubs, Mazdas and a Simca. :eeek: I just happened to google gremlin, and the door latch looked pretty close.

My ~profuse~ apologies then.

For all but th' Simca. :smirk:

We got the car to the shop...drove it...gas is horrible so we drained it and I doubt the smell will ever leave my shop. Blew everything out and put fresh premium unleaded in it as well as a dose of Seafoam. two cylinders are firing fine...1 and two act like the injectors are a bit clogged. The more it runs the better it gets. I drove the CGT to the base car show yesterday and carried all the books and data along and spread it out on a table there. A Lt.Col. C-130 Talon pilot wants to see it this afternoon..he car has just flipped 6k miles and is virtually new. I have the original blueprints, build book from the factory, appraisal for insurance and it state this particular car was the car used for all the Kelmark companies promotional books, advertising and shows. Eight were built, the only other known survivor car is in SC...shown in pictures parked under the owners Learjet. Tomorrow I hope to take it out on the airport road and play with the knobs on the boost box..I promise not to break the speed limit....darn..taht was close...a lightning bolt just flew by....

...an' yer nose appears to be a bit longer.

Wouldn't think of it James:smile:...and by the way..wife and I love St. Andrews..spent a couple of weeks there a long time ago.
