Now that we can drive our '60 Bugeye Sprite I am noting that lots of water and road dust/grit/rocks comes through the gap between the inner and outer fender and generally makes a mess. Whilst it would likely be possible to very carefully bend things and get the gap smaller, with the car already painted, well, doesn't seem like a good option. I've been thinking about how to fit a rubber seal - and am liking what I have started making. I bent a piece of galvanized sheet metal so that it wraps around the lip on the inner fender, and doubled the sheet metal over so there was a lip that the seal I bought from SteelRubber.com could slide onto. See attached for photos of a short piece I have tested the fit on. I am really pleased with how the clip slips over the inner fender lip, and then the rubber seal snugs up against the inner fender lip to hold the clip in place.
