Back in the 70's and 80's when my partent lived in Sarasota we really loved this place Phillippi Creek Village Restaurant and Oyster Bar. Later on they have enclosed the open air bar area and it isn't quite the same but still good.

At least get to St. Armand's and have some stone crabs at The Columbia... And tip a cold one fer me!
 
Good idea, Doc. Did you get my pm? I'm on a cell phone and am having a hard time navigating around the forum. I'm not sure it went out. If you are going to be around here the next couple of days let me know. I seem to be able to get pm's, just not sure if I'm sending correctly.
 
Doc... if you're headed to the Columbia I just might fly down and meet you guys. It doesn't get any better than sitting outside at St. Armand's dinning at the Columbia.
 
So Elliot, last night we ate at the Dry Dock. Great! Now I guess we gotta try this place..
 
You won't be disappointed at the Columbia. The restaurant has been around since 1925 and has roots in Ybor City in Tampa.

The Ybor City Columbia is a great place for a lunch meal in the "off-season". The St. Armands location doesn't have an "off-season" to my mind. Seems to be busy all the year.

Made it through GA northbound, too. We're in NC just about even with Jacksonville and Camp Lejeune, where I spent many a day in my Mis-spent youth with the Eighth Marines.
