TR6 FWIW TR6 engine and transmisson weight

I wanted to know exactly how heavy the TR6 engine/transmission was so I set up a scale and weighed it.

This is completely stock with carburetors attached, a pacesetter header and no fluids.

TR6 engine and transmission - 527 lbs.

So, how does that compare to your swapped out engine and transmission?

I assume that's a non-OD gearbox, right?

Thanks for the info!

Correct, that is a non-OD box. Given Dan Masters information on the TR6 engine weight at 460 lbs, the non-OD transmission weighs 67 lbs.

As for my swap I a little disappointed that I am about 40 lbs in the hole. I could never get any actual weights of the engine and I thought the TR transmission would weigh more. I assumed the TR case was steel, but it is aluminum (never stuck a magnet on it till yesterday). But I am running an aluminum radiator and moved the battery to the rear so I should be back to about stock weight distribution. Through my whole swap I think it will gain about 80 lbs (biased slightly more to the rear), but remain with same balance as stock. Not too bad and with well over 300HP, I think it will be ok, but I am well past the point of no return.
