I stopped by Erik's shop yesterday afternoon to see how the car looks. It's pretty much all done! The engine's in and he got the new radiator from Moss installed and the front apron is back on the car.

Unfourtunatly with hurricane Kyle it was pouring rain yesterday so I couldn't take it out for a quick drive but it's looking great! Erik has really done a terrific job on the car, it was money well spent. I had him do a ton of work on it this summer.

Erik has taken it out and driven it some himself though. He say's it's running great and really pulls stong with the BPNW performance cam in it. It's also running nice and cool with the TR6 fan conversion and the new radiator without the cranking hole.

He just has to finish up a few odds and ends and some fine tuning and it'll be done. Unfourtunatly the chromers haven't finished rechroming the valve cover yet so it still has the old TR4 valave cover on it.

Here are some pics I took of before and after:

Is there room on that woven fuel line for it to go under the front carb? Nice to see that new wiring loom on the car. Your before shot looks like my after shot.... looks good!

Looking great! Enjoy the drive once you get it.

It really does look even better in person. Especially what is hidden under the front panel. That's where you really need the before and after shots. Erik does do great work.

I had done a lot of work cleaning up the engine bay right after I got the car. The engine bay and engine really didn't look too bad before I needed the work done on it, so If your after shot looks like that then your in pretty good shape.

My problems weren't so much the outside of the engine as what was on the inside. When I brought it in to Erik I said before the engine stopped running all together, it just didn't seem to have much power when it was running. After he took the enjine apart he said Yeah, that's not surprising you were only running on about 1 and half cylinders!

Sorry if I missed this part, but what was wrong?
It appears that maybe the engine had frozen and the DPO had broken it free but damaged the rings in the process it was also running very rich and the valves got burnt. When I first bought the car it seemed to be running OK, no smoke idled a little rough but otherwise seemed ok. But the longer I drove it the worse it got. I only got about 75 miles out it and then it just went downhill fast.

So I took it to Erik at Her Majesty's Service to rebuild the engine, and then mission creep set in..."While the engine's out can you also do this..."
