Furflex help!

I am about ready to put the seals on the doors of my MKII. I purchased furflex and now am reading that it is almost impossible to install. After looking at it there seems to be something missing. I am sure this has been said before but... Help!!!
 
Throw it away and get the stuff from the Englishman who I think is in Canada. If my memory is working the gents name is McGregor and he sent me samples when I was doing my Healey over. His stuff is very superior to Furflex. Bob
 
So no redeeming value at all? Has this <span style="text-decoration: underline">ever</span> been installed sucsessfully?

I would recommend that you call him, as he is a one man shop, but is always willing to help you with samples, etc. He is also the "man" for Brit rubber parts.

Just sent an email and will call if necessary. A little disappointing as I order this back in June and am probably not going to get to send it back :cryin:.
 
I don't get it, I bought some from VB years (1985) ago. and it has a steel core. I have not installed it yet.
 
From what I understand the issue is getting the metal core seperated enough to slip over the metal on the door sill? without having the seal come apart. There seem to be other much easier alternatives on the market.
 
FWIW I used the VB fuzzy strips and they are just fine - admittedly they are a PITA to install as you rally need MOWOG fingers. I made a bracket to hold the clips and pull them up onto the metal. I ended up loosing some clips and my fingers hurt but other than that it was fine. The glass was in the door but not in the track. I put the spring clip in the bracket, passed the bracket up so the top stuck out above the door, grabbed the top of the bracket with a pair of vice grips and pulled it tight.
 
Unless something has changed, Martin is not very good at answering e-mails. You need to give him a call. I used his Bristleflex on my Sprite and I'm very happy with it.

Was this for the door seal or the window? No windows in mine so I am just looking at the weather seal between door and body.
 
Miss Agatha likes McGregor, Looks great, easy to install, just push it on.

Oops - you've got the primitive one (I know I know - roll up windows are just a fad)

If you've got the VB ones, use the VB ones is all I'm rally saying.

Thanks, that is what I was wondering. So far I have ordered a couple of things that I didn't use because of quality issues and going a different direction. Even at that I think I ordered twice as much as I need. Steep learning curve :wall:
 
I am about to get the car back from the body shop. I am going to run this stuff by the guy that did the body work and paint to see if he thinks it worth while. He may have insight into how to put it on or say it is junk once and for all. :nopity:

:iagree: As I said in another post, Martin is the LBC rubber fittings "Geek Squad." He's more money, but in the end it saves a lot of aggravation.
 
So it's official, the furflex I have will not fit on my Sprite in any way shape or form. Looks like a call to Canada..
