Function - Armstrong Lever Arm Shock

I've drained the fluid from three Armstrong lever arm shocks and refilled with 20 wt. Motul motorcycle fork oil.

When I grab the lever when its at 'full stop', I get maybe half an inch of movement at the outer end of the lever, fairly instantly, before it moves slowly and smoothly. This seems to hold true for both ends of the range of movement.

I don't know if I've got all the air out of the shocks, but is this normal?

Im no expert, but it sounds like you have some wear internally. Some of my Bugeye shocks exhibited the same symptoms and I decided to send mine to Peter Caldwell at Worldwide Auto Parts of Madison, nosimport.com, for rebuilding. He's done the shocks on my Bugeye and MGB and I'm very pleased with the quality, ride (MGB), and lifetime warranty...ill be doing the same for my TR4as.

+1 on Peter's C. shocks. I can vouch for the lifetime warranty as one of my shocks is back with him right now. It will save you a lot of heartache down the road just to get them done properly by Peter now.
