We have Tricare (retired military) so they don't charge for the prescription, but they do for shipping.
 
You are kind of stuck with what medical care is available in your area. We do not have the best of choices where I live. This is not a wealthy community, so I do not think it attracts finest doctors to set up practices here. We have a lot of young, immigrant doctors who got their degree out of the country and moved to the U.S. set up shop in an area where the costs are lower. I have burned through a few doctors in the last few years trying to find a good one. Same goes for medical insurance providers. I have been using United Health Care for the last 15 yrs. or so. Not because they are great. What they do is currently working. I am 80 and they want me to get every test they can charge Medi-Care for. I am not interested in spending my golden years being a career patient. I tell them no on a lot of things. ...J.D.
 
Around here the cost of living is a big problem and that really hurts the medical care. Young doctors with a ton of debt can't afford to live here and that leads to a real shortage of qualified doctors. After resisting for many years, we finally gave in to concierge medicine. We pay a small fortune just to have the opportunity to see our doctor. We do get a good doctor with same day appointments and he actually spends time with us rather than rushing off to the next person. Before, it could take weeks or more to get an appointment. When you could get one, more often than not you ended up with a new doctor or a PA.
 
Every place seems to have it's own issues. Just this month I changed back to a doctor I used to go to when I was still working for state government. I had him as a provider until I went to Medi-Care. My supplemental plan I had at the time did not include him. That was maybe 15 years ago. He joined our medical group recently, so I figure 15 years on he should still have his ducks in a row. Too many of these new doctors have no idea of how to run a practice. Their office staff is a circus, staffed with local cheap help.

I stopped using CVS for prescriptions a number of years ago. They would text that the prescription was ready for pickup (a 5 minute walk each way), but then they would not be ready when I got there. Across the street from the CVS is a Weis grocery store. There pharmacy is much friendlier, and we can pick thing up while grocery shopping. This is all with an OptumRX account.
