MGB Full strip for paint

I agonized for a long time over stripping ALL the trim/windscreen/ badges/handles etc. prior to painting. Was trying to figure out a way to do it nicely with all the bits and bobs still on the car. After removing some trim, I have now just started taking everything off the car. It actually feels better to know that I can now get at all the surfaces and do a much better job. Only issue is my garage is getting full and now I have overflowed into the house to store all the parts! Good thing my girlfriend does not live with me!

If you're going in, best to go in all the way. Or at least that's what I tell myself!

It is surprising how much room even a small car takes once it is disassembled. I picked up a couple cheap plastic shelves and some banker's boxes for the strip down of my Bugeye -- managed to fill both shelves even with the simpler Sprite. I think ideally you want a 3-car garage to do a 1-car restoration. :grin:

To do it "one time, right" you should do just what you are doing. Good decision!

Ain't THAT the truth!

One thing I hadn't counted on, when I started my TD restoration, was the amount of space I'd need for storage. My home office, which is behind the garage, has been filled with TD parts since I started--and it's driving me nuts! I used up all the space on my shelves in the garage, and put some stuff in our small basement, too. But by now, most of it is back on the car, so things are sorting themselves out.

I wish I had spent a few bucks on some boxes as you did--I tried to get by with old cardboard boxes, but they can't be stacked easily so they take up more space. But, now I know, for the next project....
