Hello,

I run my extra Sunoco 110 race fuel in my '65 BJ8, runs great no problems at all.

I can get the Sunoco (leaded) Racing Fuel right around the corner from where I live, but at $6.50/gal, I settle for the 93 octane (unleaded) variety. My tank holds twenty-eight (28) gallons, so that would be an expensive fillup.

About twenty (20) years ago, I had my cylinder head rebuilt with hardened valve seats and umbrella-type stem seals. Even though I have about as complicated a fuel delivery system as you can imagine (3 X Weber 45 DCOE) I don't have any trouble with popularly available gasoline.

But then I'd have to pretend those are my cars. And I don't want my current wallpaper of my Healey... to get jealous.
 
Here in Hong Kong the octane ratings are pretty high, close to 100. No problems whatsoever. $8 a gallon for premium, $7 for unleaded ... however! At least I don't have to drive more than 10 miles a day!

Here's my favorite pic. I took that day in front of our home. My wife's the gardener/designer, I'm the muscle and maintenance man. By the way Randy, I pay $9.50 for 110 and the poor saps who don't bring their own fuel paid $12.50 this summer at the track.

Yours being the only carburation system I could think of being more complicated :wink:

The point I was making, was that SUs would be more forgiving (than Webers) of contaminants in the fuel, by nature of fewer orifaces and ducts.
