fuel water separator addon to fuel line?

Been looking into the issues of E10 fuel and phase separation because of the ethanol.
Has anyone installed a fuel water separator addon to the fuel line to help remove the water out of the fuel?
Any recommendations on what to use?
 
I have two on boat using Racor spin on filters just be sure to use 10 micron to filter out water and sediment from fuel tank. Not sure how you would install on car as it is as big as an oil filter. Water builds up with open system as hot or cold air enter and leave the tank. E-10 also "scrubs" to clean the inside of your tank as it sloshes around. Use Startron to stabilize the fuel from phase separation.
 
Unless you expect to get a lot of water in your system you will have no use for one. Ethanol blend picks up water in the system and it goes through the carb. There is no separation unless the fuel becomes completely saturated and i don't think that can be separated or burned. Ethanol cleaning the water out of your tank should be looked on as a good thing IMHO. A good in line filter should be used as the ethanol blend will clean a lot of gunk out of your fuel system.

A little story...
I filled my BE at the last local station still carrying 93 octane gas. The 93 gas was not ethanol blend and was quite expensive so I suppose not may were using it and it had been raining a lot. Barely got home and when I removed the line at the fuel pump in front of the gas tank water ran out. Drained the tank and had well over a gallon of water. Dumped in a couple of gallons of ethanol blend and drained that. It was white from being saturated with water. Since that I've run nothing but ethanol blend and I'm sure its cleaned the rest of the water out.

I agree with everyone above that you don't need a water separator - but- if you do put one on, the Racor filter is exactly the same thing as a common spin-on oil filter but with a clear case and a drain at the bottom. I was working with Racor many years ago and learned that. If you want a separator just put an oil filter in the fuel line and change it occasionally.

The only problem with the oil filter is that it will not trap the smallest particles that is why we use 10 micron or smaller filters. Racor now makes a spinon without the glass bottom.

I was looking at the Racor filters. Why not use a spin-on filter with the glass bottom?
 
If you want to fit something to get rid of water why not fit a good old fashioned sediment bulb. Glass bulb separates water and lets you see if there is any in the system. Course strainer gets rid of the particles that would cause problems. Worked for the entire history of the carburated gasoline engine.

Glass bottom or plastic, just wonder where you would mount it so you could drain it without spilling. In the boats we can fit a bucket below the racors to catch the drainage. Besides you have to clean the filter unit once in a while.
