I have been wondering on this fuel mpg thing, and would like to hear what brand (Conoco, Amoco, BP, etc.) and what grade everyone is using in their brit cars.

Reply back with brand and grade, along with any appropriate comments. Why not also add price last purchase and your geographic area to make it wortwhile.

I usually buy wherever I need to as I get low but probably mainly Citgo and premium.

87 octane, no particular band preference, approx $3US/gal, Western Canada.
 
I use either Shell regular unleaded(87 octane) or Union 76 regular unleaded(87 octane). Price is about $2.40 a gallon in southern california. Don't know why but my car gets better mileage on regular than it does on premium(91 octane).
 
Southeast PA, Sunoco Ultra 94 only (I need the octane), and it costs about $2.30/gal

Regular actually has more energy content than premium, in btu's per gallon. The more common blends of octane boosters, especially alcohol, have less energy content. If you don't need the higher octane to prevent detonation, the lower will actually give a bit better gas milage & of course, cost less, as you have found out.

85 octane regular unleaded (4800 feet) Carson City, Nevada. El cheapo gas station still $2.299/gal.
Mileage is highly dependant upon right foot! 23-28 typically. Over 30 on highways when the OD wants to work!

I usually find that Chevron/Texaco gas works better in my vehicles (all of them actually) I'm not sure if its the detergents they add or what, but seems to work better (better mpg and power) than cheap gas....just my $0.02
 
I have been using Exxon Premium Unleaded at $2.05 a gallon. I am having some problems and maybe should change. I was told to use premium unleaded due to the original valves. I also add one ounce of relead to each tank. I average 26 miles a gallon.

I use Amoco Super Premium in my GT6, I think it's rated at 93 octane. I'd like to find a Sunoco station with the higher octane but we don't have Sunoco here in this small town.

I wonder if it makes much difference anyway in a non-racing car.

My GT6+ with a mostly stock engine, gets about 30mpg on the road with a J type OD (28%), and about 23 or so in city driving.
 
Yes it will. You will get worse mileage and pay more $ to the oil companies.
There is absolutely no need to run premium on a stock MGB if everything else is in order and it is properly tuned up.
10:1 compression, supercharged, etc. Well, that's another matter /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif!
