TR2/3/3A Fuel tank vent

The tank I got with my TR does not have a hole in the top for a vent. The tank came with this car when I bought it out of a barn in WV. It looks original but I do not understand how it was vented. Do I have to drill out for a new banjo bolt, or am I missing something?

I just noticed a very small hole inside the top of my new filler cap. Could this possibly be the vent?

It will certainly do for one. I've not heard of original tanks that didn't have the banjo fitting, but I've been running with the banjo fitting blocked off and just the hole in the cap for many years with no problem.

(The banjo vent will dump raw fuel on the ground if you make a hard left turn with a full tank of gas.)
