Fuel tank to pump pipe

I just bought a new pipe from one of the usuals to connect my fuel tank to the SU pump. The old pipe fitted fine but the rusty iron fuel pipe has a leak, new pipe is copper. As far as I'm aware both tank and pump are standard. The new pipe has the right thread diameter but seems to be the wrong pitch for the tank connection, have they changed the thread pitch on replacement tanks?. Has anyone else had this problem?
Car is BJ8 phase II

Thanks

Ian

Yes this problem has occured in the past and depends on where the replacement tank was obtained.

Thanks for the info both of you. I've decided to pull apart the old pipe and reuse the original elbow on a piece of copper pipe, the brazed joint of the rusty holed iron pipe should be easy to get apart and the elbow itself looks ok. I'll return the new pipe kit.
Thanks again

Ian

I bought a few of these elbows (item 27) to rob the threaded cap which has the correct thread pitch. Standard US pipe to compressiion threaded caps is a little different and doesn't work. Just use the cap fitting and a new compression sleeve on your new fuel pipe and it should work.
