Fuel saving device

These were being sold through a TV infomercial awhile back. Because of that I would doubt 90% if not 100% of what they claim. Never knew anyone who tried one.

Bruce, its the $ back guarantee intrigues me, plus the fact they have been in business for 10+ yrs!

If they have been seling for 10 years that certainly is a plus.

It is when some infomercials give a lifetime guarantee and we know darn well the company will only be around a few months...

But these cyclone things ahve been around along time. Give it try. If they will refund your money, what the heck. How many days do they give you? Long enough to do a real test, not just one tank of gas?

I think many people would like to know if it gives at least 10% better fuel economy. Try it without the K & N filters first though unless you already have them.

These contraptions have been around for years. They never have been proven to do anything in actual controlled lab tests. If the buyer has spent his money & time on the thing he is likely to think there is an improvement whether there is or not. I fear this will give K&N a bad name by association. K&N is a very good high flow filter but it will not normally give any engine performance increase either, & K&N does not claim so.

About 20 years ago GM was spending a fair amount of time and money designing vortex generators into engine intake system. These worked for GM... but they were designed into the engine. Like Dave said, I don't think there are any tests of the aftermarket devices that show any benefit.

Sidebar to prove Dave's point: Thirty years ago Gortex was a new fabric and I bought a NorthFace parka made of the stuff. An outdoorsie guy in grad school with me saw my jacket and started asking me if it was as good as all the hype. Before I could answer he paused and said "Nevermind, if you paid $150 for that jacket I'm sure you'd tell me it was great even if it wasn't". The jacket was OK... but my friend was right, I wasn't going to tell him the fabric was anything less than of divine fabrication.

Money back does not mean you get the shipping and packageing back. You are investing shipping both ways which today could be 15 to 20 bucks each way. And be sure to get tracking and signature required upon their reciept. They still make money on you by over charging for the packing/handling.
From what I've heard the vortex thing didn't do anything.

Looks like all the other "Miracle Products" that are advertised in car mags, etc.

The Oil Filter Magnet (https://www.oilfiltermagnet.com/) that's linked to the site is a really interesting concept, esp. since it costs $45 and snaps onto your oil filter. I'd guess it is a $5 magnet in a plastic housing. That said, perhaps there is a way that I can induce a field into my oil filter and magnetize it? For sure a couple of wires leading to your spin-on filter would certainly raise some eyebrows, esp. amongst the Concours folks.
