Ray - The symptoms you describe are not fuel delivery symptoms. I'm with the rest of the guys on this one, it is some kind of an electrical problem. Once you get it sorted, you might want to test the old fuel pump by attaching it directly to a battery. Its my guess that you will fid that it runs fine. That said, at 27 years old, it probably needs to be replaced or restored anyway. Jack - I appreciate the interest in the fuel pump services article, but at the present time, I have more pumps than I ever really wanted to deal with and would prefer to keep this particular article on a one to one basis, or at least limited to MG people. There are several of us in the country who restore or repair SU fuel pumps, but at present I am the only one that does a reliable solid state modification and the result is that I have been unable to turn off the flood of pumps to our front door. For someone who is retired and have been diagnosed with stage 4, low grade, non Hodgkin's lymphoma (in remission at this time), this has been a mixed blessing. The extra money is useful, but our top priority since receiving the diagnosis has been more cruised and more dancing. I am presently in the process of touring another person in my restoration/modification process and hope that will take some of pumps to another door step shortly. I also have a couple of other SU fuel pump articles that can be added to the knowledge base and I'll check into getting them there.

Thanks Dave, now just keep that darn stuff in remission. We need to keep all the folks with MG and Sprite pasions healthy.

Jack - There doesn't appear to be much of a problem keeping the lymphoma that I have beat back. It is a very slow growing, easily treatable type of lymphoma and I have had two different oncologists tell me that it should be 8 to 10 years before it resurfaces (it hides in the bone marrow and as long as it stays there it is not a problem. They also don't go after it while it is in the bone marrow, since getting too aggressive with treatment can cause it to mutate into something much less desirable) and even then the treatment to beat it back (monoclonal antibodies) is not even considered chemotherapy. We had a 89 year old friend in our local MG group who had the same thing for 20 years. He finally died of old age, so that leaves us optimistic about my future. It did, however make us take a look at what we want from our retirement and much as I enjoy restoring fuel pumps, we also want time to go on cruises and attend as many dances as we can.
