Fuel Pump Leaking

I've run the solid state SU fuel pump that Tony describes n my 1974 MGB for about 10 years now, no problems whatsoever. Direct replacement, same fittings, mounting as original; looks exactly like original if somone wants to crawl under the car & look.

Yes it clicks, not as loud as original.

Oh, always replace the copper crush washers on the fittings. It's cheap insurance against leaks.

Basil - you may have been better off to have dressed the contacts on the old points and reused them rather than replacing them.
Cheers,

You may be right...well at least I did keep the original set (just in case).

I hope we answered Naomi's basic question so she can correct her problem before we moved on to the masters degree course in fuel pumpology.

I think the first three or four answers are about enough to have done that. But if it's one of those NZ plastic 'counterfeits' it needs replacing. Preferrably with the proper SU to mate up to the rest of the car's "plumbing".

And we do it as friends would do in genteel society (though I'm shocked Doc would be able to make a grand entrance into genteel society!)
