Hi everybody!
First off I want to say that this is a great site! Reading some of the old posts has already solved several of my problems /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif!
Two months ago I bought my first LBC a 74 TR 6 and immediatly had to go to work fixing prior owners mistakes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif.
Which leads me to my question. I need to know the proper diameter of the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb.
I have to bend a new one since some numb nut ran an unsupported hose behind the cylinder head and it was too close to the exhaust manifold for my liking.
 
I'm replacing my fuel line from the tank forward to the fuel pump with 5/16. Its as close to original as I could estimate. I can't confirm that the forward fuel piping is identical but most likely it is.
 
Should you be looking for a source; Summit Racing carries 5/16 aluminum tubing for $18.95/25ft roll.
 
I did this soon after I got my TR6. I used 5/16" pipe. I just estimated the length I need and went to Pepboys and bought a generic fuel line for some other car that was long enough and then modified it to fit my TR6.
 
I'm not sure I heard an absolutely certain answer in there so you may want to double-check.

I do not know TR6s but on TR3s & 4s it is 5/16" to the pump and then 1/4" from the pump to the carbs. Could be all 5/16" on the '6 but you may want to be sure.
 
I am pretty sure that it is 5/16 from tank to pump and 1/4 from pump to carbs. I would be hesitant to use aluminum tubing for fuel line. I understand that several areas of the fuel delivery system are rubber fuel line but these are in well guarded places, away from abrasion and cutting. I used stainless steel 1/4" from my fuel pump to the carbs for appearance (a bitch to bend) and Gates rubber fuel line where appropriate. Only use the best rubber available (Gates). All other will crack in short order.....

And note: I have found 2 sizes of fuel line sold as 1/4". One is true quarter inch, the other is slightly larger (possibly 7mm?) and will not seal well.
 
I purchased Petroflex 1/4" rubber line with SS sheath and clamps for my 4A from minimania.com. British made and comes in various precut lenghts. Peter

Best to call them for what you want.
