TR2/3/3A Fuel line routing from pump to carbs

Has anyone run the fuel line above the thermostat housing? Seems to me the fuel line would absorb a lot of heat in the stock set up?

I ran mine round the back of the engine on the bulkhead and just swapped the su carb float bowl tops over. I used a rubber or equivalent pipe.

use the same routing for the webers on the new engine.
It’s a shorter and cooler route.

I agree, Karl. It's not the optimum routing, and likely why so many owners have vapor lock issues.

When I repiped my fuel lines I ran them in basically the stock location, but insulated it. Not sure if it helped, as I never had a vapor lock problem, but figured it couldn’t hurt.

What did you use for insulation? I used a section of header wrap and ran the fuel line a couple of inches above the thermostat housing but I am going to switch to Hamish Racing's set up. No vapor lock problems either.

I found some white fabric woven stuff at my local parts house made for the purpose. Just slide over the fuel line and you pull it to tighten, kind of like a Chinese finger trap. I used electrical tape to secure the ends, but heat shrink tubing would have done a nicer job.

Hi Guys
I have tried to highlight the pipe routing to the rear in yellow. I then added an electric huco fuel pump circled green. With a simple P pipe clip self tapper screwed to the bulkhead box section in front of the battery. Much shorter and cooler route. You just swap the su float covers.
