Fuel line fitting question

I am fitting the fuel lines on my Bugeye. The rear fittings are all 5/16 (this is the size of the copper line going into the fuel tank and the rubber hose going into the electric fuel pump, and the copper line that I ran to the front of the car. However, I see that the hose fitting on the carb is smaller than 5/16. When running a new line, at what point do people usually make this jump down to a smaller hose?
 
Hmm, that is interesting. The copper line and fitting that I got from Moss to go to,the gas tank on my Bugeye was 5/16, and I just ran 5/16 the rest of the way.
 
IIRC, mine is 5/16 from the tank to the fuel pump and 1/4 from the pump to the carbs. Mine is replacement copper tubing like most everything else on my car.

Stick a inline fuel filter in before the carbs. The ones I use will take a 5/16 hose on the inlet and a 1/4 on the outlet. I use the clear plastic ones so I can see the fuel inside. Should have a filter in front of the carbs anyway.

Be sure you properly support the line where it attaches to the side of the tranny tunnel. I used the Frank C. recommended copper fuel line also known as ice maker copper tubing. I did not have the OEM Type clamps for Bugsy and I needed to improvise with some other type of clamps. I did not use enough clamps and discovered that one day when Bugsy quit running and I had gas flowing under the car when copper pipe had been flexing too much. A quick repair with a piece of rubber gas line and a couple of clamps got me going again in short order and it's worked fine for the last 10 years.
