TR6 Fuel issues

Hi I replaced my fuel pump and prime it I was getting gas to the carbs. The engine started strong idle great rev it up perfect. I went to take a test drive once it got a load on the motor is started to sputter and lose power I was lucky to limp it home. When sitting it's running fine. Any help please I have fresh gas in it could it be the carb floats?

They could be low, or if it just started, lots of things.
Have you checked the oil or the diaphragms in the top dome? Look for a tear in one or both.
May even e a intake gasket or shaft leak, if not the other things, spray a bit of carb cleaner around the shafts and intake manifold. If the idle gets faster, you need to tighten things up.

Possible, but not likely IMO. I would look for something that restricts fuel flow, like a line that is partially blocked or an old fuel filter. IIRC, the TR6 has rubber line under the tank that is often overlooked and can deteriorate with old age.

In my case, the body shop that did my paint job had left the gas cap off during the process without covering the hole to the tank; and the line from tank to pump was almost totally clogged with paint dust, etc. Oddly enough, the problem didn't show up for months of driving to work every day, but blowing compressed air backwards through the line shot all sorts of black crud into the tank (the remaining fuel looked more like ink) and solved the problem.

BTW, trrdster2000, your signature photo is being held hostage by Photobucket. From this end, it's just a blurry mess with their ad logo on top of it. You might want to consider changing your sig.

Thanks guys going to check it out. ThanksTR3 driver about the pictures postings they did look similar too funny.

And see if leaving the gas cap either open or at least not tightly latched helps

Thanks, took care of it.
At the time that is the only way we had to get them on the Forum, been a while.
