I have a 67 midget, the fuel gauge was removed and i can't figure out which wires go where... i've tried a few different combinations but i haven't found the right way. there are 3 wires and a ground that goes on the mounting bracket. 2 wires are solid green and the third is green with black. there are 3 prongs two together one by itself. if anyone can help me with putting this back together it would be much appreciated. thankyou. nick.

Nick, I am not sure this is correct but you might give it a try.The Two green wires go to the common double terminal and the Greeb/Black goes to the third one . the ground connects to the mouunting bracket under one of the small hand nuts. You of course must have confidence that the guage is good.--FWIW---Keoke

Working on the electrics w/o a wiring diagram is akin to driving from Philadelphia to Santa Barbara w/o a map.
FWIW - here is an excellent site for understanding the early style gauges (needle moves quick, no voltage stabilzer):

Even if the Midget gauge doesn't have the same works the site may give you some ideas on how to bench test your gauge if the correct wiring doesn't get it going.
BTW - Lucas wire colors are pretty standard... green is fused power (there may be 2 because it goes on from the fuel gauge to another item such as the wipers)... green/black is the 'green' circuit looking for a ground (most likely via the sending unit)... and black of course is a ground.

One jumps to feed the tach and they go on terminal "B" (battery) Green/black goes to the single terminal, it goes to the tank sender. Terminal "T" (tank)
Most times, if hooked up backwards, you will fry the little wire on the sending unit coil. You can also repair this wire with very thin similar wire or if lucky enough to find enough slack to re-connect the burned out end.
I have repaired a number of sending units this way.
