My fuel gauge started reading "full" when it obviously isn't. Would that indicate a short, a ground or an open circuit in the wire from the tank to the gauge? Or possibly a bad ground at the sender? 1959 100/6 in final stages of rebuild. Thanks, Bob
 
While we're on the subject (apologies for jumping in on your thread Bob!), my fuel guage seems to read accurately when I just have the ignition on to begin with but as soon as the engine is started it reads empty or bounces around rapidly between empty and full.

Same questions apply - is it a circuit issue or something else?

Hold on... I asked similar questions a few months back and got very knowledgeable answers (what else would you expect here?); I'll look for the thread and edit this post.

As it turned out, I had a short and a 'sticky' sending unit. Once I fixed the short and disassembled and cleaned the sending unit, the gauge worked fine.
